You Don't Dream in Sequins?

SEQUINS! SEQUINS!  EVERYONE WEARS SEQUINS FOR NYE! SEQUINS! SEQUINS!  RIGHT? RIGHT?!?

I love NYE because in my bedazzled brain it appears that the entire world shares my affinity for sequins. And, I can go bat shit crazy with sequins from head to toe and no one will laugh or judge. So, 'twas strange when I met my best friend Holly years ago and shockingly she did not share my feelings for all things bedazzled. After months of therapy, retail therapy that is, we came to the conclusion that we can still be friends.

So, you don't dream in sequins like me? No prob. There are so many ways to spruce up your wardrobe for NYE without looking like you rolled around in a pool of sequins...Wait, is that possible?

Holiday Headpiece to the Rescue

A couple months ago I made a major style change....I cut off 8 inches of my hair! Ay ya ya! Since then I've had a love/hate relationship with the few inches I have left which is why I'm grateful for this year's holiday headpiece trend. It not only covers unruly waves but adds an instant holiday sparkle to any look.

Austin Being Austin

Man on a scooter: "Hey man, you need a permit for that?"
Man on a horse: "Hell no, this is Texas!"

As Sara and I made our way down Congress Avenue for First Thursday, we were met by a man on a horse and the conversation above. Not that shocking as this is Texas, but come on! You can't make this shiz up. Isn't it great how Austin is just so perfectly and charmingly Austin? Where else can you find a Hans Solo pedi cab riding along side a horse? Or a man wearing a Wilfred costume selling painted skateboards? Austin being Austin. And so in the spirit of Austin being Austin, we picked out a few items from our favorite boutiques along SoCo.  Check back next week for our Man Boy Gift Giving Guide.

This is the True Story

of a Warbrobe Stylist. Picked to style December issue of Glossy Magazine, work with an amazing team of hair, make up, photographer, set designer, and have their lives taped. WAIT. Scratch that. Wrong show.

The real True Story was that after receiving word I would be styling the December issue of Glossy Magazine for Austin American Statesman, I did a happy dance! Then, I went straight into panic mode. The Rachel Zoe Project makes this shiz look easy when in reality, styling is no easy feat. Don't get me wrong, I get to style beautiful models in beautiful clothes and work with amazingly, creative people all day but it is hard work! This styling job was especially special-can I say that?-because not only was I honored to style the issue, I was also given the opportunity to write the accompanying article. No joke, I had WRITER'S BLOCK but every bit of it is worth it when you see the final and published product. True Story-I'm one lucky girl.

Check out the electronic version of Glossy Magazine HERE

Wardrobe options taking over my car. This is NOT including jewelry and shoes in the trunk.

Prepping look one. I was so excited to be able to style pieces from Rachel Zoe's recent collection.

My trusty assistant and sister, Sara, prepping shoes by taping the bottoms.

Unpacking the amazing hats we pulled from Lana Chu.

Set designers Tyson and Jess hard at work creating their masterpiece of a set.

Make up artist Laura Martinez doing some last minute touch-ups.

One last look before we shoot.

Austin American Statesman photographer Ricardo Brazziell doing his thing.

And last but not the least, the final spread.
